Home / About Us

I didn't want to build another big waste company. I wanted to build a better one.

Independent, Bedfordshire-based, and built around one service done properly.

Why I started Cassio Waste

Smaller customers shouldn't feel like just another number.

I'm Lily-Mae Cormican, and I started Cassio Waste because I believed there was room to do waste collection differently. Businesses now have real responsibilities around separating food waste, and I wanted a service that makes the whole thing simple, affordable and reliable — particularly for independent restaurants, cafés, offices and smaller businesses.

Too often those customers feel like a rounding error on someone else's spreadsheet. That means a three-year contract, a price that rises every April, and a phone number nobody answers.

We're building the opposite. Turning up when we say we will. Answering the phone when you need us. Keeping the pricing fair and putting it in public. Dealing with problems ourselves rather than passing you from person to person.

That's also why we're building the round as a corridor rather than a scattergun — Luton and Dunstable, up through Toddington, Ampthill and Flitwick, to Bedford. We'd rather be genuinely good across one county than spread thin across five, and we'll add the next round when we can serve it properly.

Being independent means we can be flexible and responsive, and that we actually know the businesses we collect from. We're ambitious about what we're building — but the day we stop knowing our customers' names is the day we've got it wrong.

Cassio Waste isn't about becoming another big waste company. It's about building a better one.

What we promise

  • We turn up. Same day, every week. If we miss you, the next collection is free.
  • The price is the price. Held for 12 months. No fuel levy, no admin fee, no annual RPI hike buried in clause 14.
  • We'll tell you if you're overpaying. Including if that means selling you less than you asked for.
  • Nothing goes to landfill. Every load goes to anaerobic digestion.
  • You can leave. 30 days' notice, no exit fee, we collect the bin.

Founder, Cassio Waste — Bedfordshire

Good for today. Better for tomorrow.

Why food waste is the one to fix first

It's the heaviest thing in your bin

Food waste is dense and wet. Pulling it out of general waste is usually the fastest way for a small business to drop a bin size — which is where the cost saving comes from.

In landfill it makes methane

Food buried in landfill breaks down without oxygen and releases methane, a far more potent greenhouse gas than CO₂ over the short term. Collected separately, that same gas gets captured and used.

It becomes energy and fertiliser

Anaerobic digestion turns your food waste into biogas for the grid and a nutrient-rich digestate that goes back onto farmland. Nothing is wasted twice.
